St. Martin
Hospitality Industry

Welcome to LodgingGuide's hospitality industry listings for the St. Martin area.

Christopher Columbus first saw the white sand of this 37 square mile paradise on the day of the feast of St. Martin, and so named the island over 500 years ago. The island of St. Martin/St. Maarten, in the Netherlands Antilles, was originally populated by native Indians, probably of the Arawak and Carib tribes, followed by the Spanish, and just about every other European nation that wanted a piece of the Caribbean, and used West African slaves to maintain their sugar plantations. Now the French own the northern half, and the Dutch the southern half. Perhaps seasoned by all of the trouble seen over the centuries, the residents have earned St. Martin the nickname of the “Friendly Island,” which now offers the visitor an unmatched array of golf courses, resorts with all of the contemporary features and comforts, and aquatic activities in warm, crystal clear waters providing up to 200 feet of visibility.
